Associate Director - RNA

Responsibilities

• Lead and direct an experienced team of catastrophe modelers to prioritize deliverables and key projects.
• Establish and cultivate strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders to deliver actionable catastrophe analytics.
• Critically assess the accuracy and performance of catastrophe models and implement enhancements for niche products.
• Manage model changes from technical and analytical perspectives, communicating impacts on risk appetite and reinsurance needs.
• Perform and lead quarterly portfolio aggregation modeling and reporting of risk metrics, including AAL/PML.
• Translate modeling outputs into actionable recommendations to enhance underwriting and pricing models.
• Identify and lead automation opportunities for routine processes and workflows to enhance productivity.
• Lead the reinsurance modeling team in assessing PML risk and expected losses for multiple cedants globally.

Requirements

• 15+ years of experience in catastrophe modeling of large property portfolios using RMS or AIR products.
• 7 years of management experience with a proven record of leading sizeable teams.
• Expert knowledge of RMS catastrophe models; knowledge of AIR or RQE is a plus.
• Expert-level skills in manipulating large, complex datasets using advanced SQL, MS Excel, and MS Access.
• Bachelor's degree in Mathematics, Geography, Engineering, or a related field.
• Excellent critical thinking, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills with the ability to simplify technical concepts for business leaders.

Preferred Qualifications

• Advanced degree in Mathematics, Statistics, or an MBA.
• Professional certifications such as ARe, CPCU, or CCRA.
• Proficiency in data analytics tools like R or Python.
• Experience with geospatial products, techniques, and data visualization/business intelligence tools.
