Associate Director, Procurement

Responsibilities

• Own and evolve the company’s procurement strategy to support R&D, engineering, manufacturing, and corporate functions
• Establish scalable procurement processes, policies, and controls for both direct and indirect procurement
• Manage end-to-end purchasing activities including requisitions, purchase orders, vendor setup, and invoice resolution
• Lead supplier negotiations regarding pricing, lead times, service levels, and contract terms
• Partner with Finance to support budgeting, spend tracking, accruals, and audit readiness
• Own procurement systems and tools, mapping and driving improvements to P2P processes
• Develop KPI reporting and dashboards for spend visibility and supplier performance

Requirements

• 10+ years of progressive experience in procurement, purchasing, or supply chain
• Experience in biotech, life sciences, advanced technology, or R&D-driven environments
• Proven track record in both tactical purchasing and strategic supplier engagement
• Experience managing RFPs and RFQs
• Ability to work cross-functionally with scientific, engineering, operations, finance, and legal stakeholders
• Strong negotiation and relationship-management skills
• Experience quantifying make/buy decisions and total cost comparisons

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience supporting early-stage or high-growth companies
• Familiarity with sourcing scientific equipment, consumables, reagents, and engineering services
• Experience building procurement processes and systems from the ground up
• Bachelor’s degree required; advanced degree or supply chain certification (CPSM, CSCP) preferred
