About the role

Responsibilities

  • Lead the planning, implementation, and assessment of Pre-Orientation, New Student Orientation, Transfer Orientation, and Welcome Week initiatives.
  • Recruit, train, supervise, and evaluate Orientation Leaders, student employees, and graduate assistants.
  • Advise undergraduate student leaders, campus organizations, and governance groups such as the Committee on Student Life (COSL) and the Sarah Lawrence Activities Council (SLAC).
  • Coordinate major campus traditions and engagement events, including Family & Friends Weekend, Winter Carnival, and Senior Week.
  • Support the daily operations of the Office of Student Involvement and Leadership (OSIL), including budget tracking and student organization administration.
  • Participate in the Student Life secondary on-call rotation to respond to campus emergencies and student concerns.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree required; Master’s degree preferred.
  • 3–5 years of experience in student affairs, student engagement, orientation, leadership development, or related higher education areas.
  • Strong organizational, communication, and event management skills.
  • Demonstrated commitment to fostering an inclusive and student-centered campus community.
  • Availability for evening and weekend work, including participation in the on-call rotation.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience supervising graduate assistants or student leadership staff in a higher education setting.
  • Familiarity with Anthology Engage/GryphonLink or similar student engagement platforms.
  • Experience with leadership development curriculum design and assessment efforts.
  • Familiarity with residential liberal arts college environments and live-in Student Life operations.

Benefits

  • Anticipated annual salary range of $67,000–$72,000.
  • A one-bedroom on-campus apartment, including utilities, is provided as part of this live-in position.
