About the role
Responsibilities
- Provide strategic leadership for Residential Life’s well-being, community, and culture initiatives.
- Supervise 3-5 Residence Hall Directors (RHDs) and oversee their management of approximately 50 Resident Advisers.
- Build a sense of community by assessing area needs and implementing innovative educational programs and resources.
- Support holistic student well-being through developmental practices and case management in partnership with campus health and support services.
- Oversee the residential conduct process, document concerns, and ensure compliance with University protocols and the Clery Act.
- Manage the area budget and participate in the growth and development of Undergraduate Student Life and the College.
- Serve on the emergency response team and participate in rotational after-hours, weekend, and holiday on-call duties.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree and/or equivalent related experience.
- Minimum of 3 years of related experience in residence life or student affairs.
- Demonstrated knowledge of residence life, living and learning communities, leadership development, and multicultural theory.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to work with diverse student populations.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office and web-based administrative programs.
- Ability to work a live-in role with rotational on-call availability for residential emergencies.
Preferred Qualifications
- Master's Degree in Higher Education, Student Personnel Administration, Counseling, or a related field.
- Experience working with Hall Councils, Residence Hall Associations, or faculty programs.
- Experience managing special interest or living-learning communities, including recruitment and selection processes.
- Experience working with young adults in an urban university setting.
