About the role
Responsibilities
- Direct and manage all aspects of the College’s employee benefits, retirement, leave of absence, and workers’ compensation programs.
- Design and implement employee benefit plans and oversee the annual renewal process for medical, dental, life, and disability insurance.
- Plan and execute annual Open Enrollment activities and prepare employee communication materials.
- Provide counseling and advocacy to employees regarding health, welfare, and retirement plans.
- Ensure compliance with local, State, and Federal statutory regulations, including FMLA, CFRA, and retirement plan audits.
- Manage the administration of tuition assistance and tuition remission programs.
- Supervise the Benefits Specialist and ensure related policies and processes are followed.
- Reconcile retirement plan contributions and audit carrier invoices in collaboration with the Business Office.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in business administration, human resources, public administration, or a related field.
- Seven years of benefits administration experience within a Human Resources Department.
- Minimum of five years of experience working with technology tools such as an ERP, HRIS, or Benefit Administration System.
- Extensive knowledge of health, welfare, and retirement regulatory compliance.
- Extensive knowledge of local, State, and Federal leave programs and processes.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and Google Workspace.
- Strong interpersonal, communication, and organizational skills.
Preferred Qualifications
- Master's degree in business administration, human resources, or a related field.
- Professional certification such as PHR, CBP, or SHRM-SCP.
- Five years of experience designing and implementing benefits and retirement programs specifically within a higher education environment.
