About the role

Responsibilities

  • Build authentic, trust-based relationships with students and families to guide them through the college process
  • Collaborate with the College Counseling team to design and lead signature programs for sophomores, juniors, and seniors
  • Provide academic advising, including four-year course planning and request counseling
  • Support students in developing individualized college lists and personalized standardized testing plans
  • Write compelling letters of recommendation for students
  • Co-plan and teach a 6-week college counseling class to juniors and seniors
  • Serve as an upper school advisor and lead an extracurricular activity
  • Develop and sustain long-term relationships with colleges and universities
  • Participate in professional development and special projects such as AP or PSAT Testing Coordinator

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree required; master’s degree preferred
  • At least three years of experience in selective college admissions or college counseling in independent schools
  • Deep knowledge of college admissions and financial aid
  • Exceptional analytical and narrative writing skills
  • Technological fluency with SCOIR, Axiom, Slate, or College Kickstart
  • Enthusiasm for working with adolescents and an equity-centered mindset
