About the role

Responsibilities

  • Manage the operational and business direction of Perioperative Services, including Operating Suites, CSSD, Day of Surgery Admissions, and the Short Stay Unit.
  • Lead and engage the nursing and clinical workforce to deliver high-quality clinical services and achieve optimal patient outcomes.
  • Drive theatre utilisation, business development, growth, and risk management strategies.
  • Build engaged, high-performing teams and foster a culture of excellence, accountability, and continuous improvement.
  • Manage human and material resources to ensure cost-efficient service delivery while maintaining high standards of safe patient care.
  • Oversee budget management, balancing cost efficiency with service delivery and labour hour requirements.

Requirements

  • Extensive leadership experience across major perioperative service areas (e.g., Operating Theatres, Maternity, Endoscopy, CSSD, PACU, or Day of Surgery Admissions).
  • Current registration as a Registered Nurse with AHPRA.
  • Demonstrated capability in budget management and achieving key performance indicators.
  • Strong interpersonal, oral, and written communication skills, including the ability to build rapport with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Deep clinical knowledge of service delivery in accordance with legislated requirements and industry codes of practice.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Postgraduate qualification in Perioperative nursing or healthcare management.
