Associate Director, Microbiology

Responsibilities

• Manage QC microbiology laboratory operations, including microbiological testing (TOC, conductivity, endotoxin, bioburden) to support routine and non-routine testing.
• Oversee investigations related to QC Microbiology testing and provide support for other relevant microbiological investigations.
• Develop and execute strategies for specialty studies, such as Hold Time and Low Endotoxin recovery.
• Manage equipment and instrument lifecycles, including qualification, implementation, maintenance, and retirement in accordance with SDLC procedures.
• Supervise a small team and multiple simultaneous projects, providing technical guidance and professional development opportunities.
• Maintain compliance with government regulations (FDA, EMA, MHRA, etc.) and industry standards (ICH, WHO).
• Identify, write, and implement standard operating procedures (SOPs), protocols, and reports.
• Participate in budget planning, including capital and annual operations.

Requirements

• BS/MS/PhD in Microbiology.
• 10+ years of experience in Microbiology within the pharmaceutical industry.
• 7+ years of experience in laboratory management.
• 4+ years of supervisory experience.
• Strong knowledge of GMP, manufacturing processes, and regulatory expectations.
