About the role
Responsibilities
- Lead the mechanical design team for Egis Transportation in the UK
- Manage recruitment, mentoring, and competency development of junior engineers
- Act as Mechanical CRE within rail projects, overseeing technical deliverables
- Plan and coordinate activities for CAD/BIM, engineers, and expert resources
- Liaise with clients and represent design teams in technical meetings
- Review design documentation for compliance with industry standards and quality management plans
- Support safety assurance processes including CDM, CSM-RA, and interoperability
- Promote sustainable design (Eco-Design) and innovation
- Support business growth through bidding opportunities and technical leadership
Requirements
- BSc or BEng in a Numerate, Scientific, or Engineering subject
- Chartered Engineer/Technician membership or equivalent professional status
- Extensive experience in major infrastructure or transportation projects
- Experience as a Contractor’s Responsible Engineer (CRE) or Engineering Manager (CEM)
- Proven project and team management experience in UK consultancy or contractor environments
- Strong knowledge of UK design standards (Network Rail, HS2, TfL, National Highways)
- Deep understanding of regulations such as CDM, CSM, and RIR
- Excellent stakeholder management and negotiation skills
- Must have the right to work in the UK
Preferred Qualifications
- Knowledge of railway infrastructure/Highways systems and operating requirements
- Experience with design and build projects
- Experience working with offshore global design production centres
- Understanding of BIM standards and design integration procedures
- Appreciation of low carbon design and environmental engineering issues
