About the role

Responsibilities

  • Develop and foster a shared student academic success and retention model with measurable productivity standards and goals.
  • Provide leadership for academic bridge and transfer programs, including the Mellon Transfer Immersion Program and Summer Start Institute.
  • Oversee transfer student efforts and serve as a primary advisor to improve the transfer process.
  • Collaborate with institutional departments to implement student success initiatives related to onboarding and student outcomes.
  • Identify barriers and challenges that impede student success in collaboration with the Director for Student Academic Success.
  • Coordinate departmental communication campaigns to increase student retention, persistence, and degree completion.
  • Provide quarterly and annual reports to identify success trends and evaluate academic performance levels.

Requirements

  • Master’s degree from an accredited institution in counseling and guidance, college student personnel, educational administration, student affairs, or a related field.
  • At least 3 years of progressive experience in academic advising and student retention.
  • At least 2 years of experience working in a higher education environment.
  • Proven track record of creating, managing, and implementing academic support programs and services.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office suite and Google platforms.
  • Strong interpersonal, communication, and relationship-building skills.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and demonstrate diplomacy.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Doctoral degree in a related field.
  • Experience managing and monitoring transfer student progression and other support groups.
  • Managerial experience in higher education.
  • Knowledge of advising theory and models of developmental advising.
  • Experience with community outreach initiatives for educational support programs.
  • Experience managing social media platforms (e.g., Instagram, Facebook, or Twitter).
  • Extensive database management skills and working knowledge of Banner, EAB Student Navigate, and Degree Works.
