Associate Director Finance

Responsibilities

• Serve as a finance partner to Pioneering Medicines leadership, providing financial insights to support portfolio and business decision-making.
• Manage financial planning, forecasting, and reporting for assigned entities, including budget-to-actuals, variance analysis, and cash flow monitoring.
• Lead monthly, quarterly, and annual close activities, including accruals, journal entries, and reconciliation reviews.
• Partner with Program Managers to develop program-level budgets, operational plans, and financial models.
• Support financial management of research collaborations and external pharma relationships, including budget tracking and reporting.
• Provide accounting and controllership support, ensuring US GAAP compliance and assisting with audit readiness.
• Help develop and standardize finance reporting processes, forecasting tools, and internal controls to support scalability.
• Mentor and guide junior finance and accounting team members.

Requirements

• BS/BA in accounting or finance (MBA or CPA preferred).
• 10+ years of financial and accounting experience.
• Strong understanding of US GAAP and month-end/quarter-end close processes.
• Extensive experience with budgeting, forecasting, and financial modeling across multiple entities or programs.
• Proven ability to partner effectively with cross-functional teams such as R&D, Legal, and Business Development.
• Proficiency in financial systems; experience with NetSuite and Coupa is preferred.
• Experience in the life sciences or biotechnology industry is preferred.
