About the role
Responsibilities
- Serve as the principal deputy to the Director of Strategic Communications, developing communication plans to advance the College's strategic priorities.
- Partner with campus offices (e.g., Student Life, Housing/Dining) to create communication strategies that elevate their work.
- Lead the development and execution of major student and family-facing campaigns, such as Countdown to Class Day.
- Write articles on Columbia College news, including announcements for top award recipients.
- Oversee email marketing strategy and execution using Salesforce CRM and Marketing Cloud.
- Manage the Columbia College social media calendar, ensuring consistent and optimized posting across platforms.
- Provide occasional operational support for urgent or after-hours crisis communications.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
- 3-5 years of experience managing and executing communications and marketing campaigns.
- Proven ability to manage multiple projects and competing priorities simultaneously.
- Exceptional written and oral communication skills with strong attention to detail.
- Proficiency in copy editing using AP, Chicago, and other professional styles.
- Strong understanding of email campaign platforms and social media best practices.
- Demonstrated experience coordinating with diverse stakeholders and building internal relationships.
Preferred Qualifications
- Bachelor's Degree in writing, journalism, or a humanities-based field.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, Google Suite, and Sprout Social.
- Experience with Salesforce CRM, Marketing Cloud, or similar systems.
- Experience with website content management systems (CMS).
- Familiarity with higher education communications and constituencies.
