About the role

Responsibilities

  • Serve as the principal deputy to the Director of Strategic Communications, developing communication plans to advance the College's strategic priorities.
  • Partner with campus offices (e.g., Student Life, Housing/Dining) to create communication strategies that elevate their work.
  • Lead the development and execution of major student and family-facing campaigns, such as Countdown to Class Day.
  • Write articles on Columbia College news, including announcements for top award recipients.
  • Oversee email marketing strategy and execution using Salesforce CRM and Marketing Cloud.
  • Manage the Columbia College social media calendar, ensuring consistent and optimized posting across platforms.
  • Provide occasional operational support for urgent or after-hours crisis communications.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • 3-5 years of experience managing and executing communications and marketing campaigns.
  • Proven ability to manage multiple projects and competing priorities simultaneously.
  • Exceptional written and oral communication skills with strong attention to detail.
  • Proficiency in copy editing using AP, Chicago, and other professional styles.
  • Strong understanding of email campaign platforms and social media best practices.
  • Demonstrated experience coordinating with diverse stakeholders and building internal relationships.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree in writing, journalism, or a humanities-based field.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, Google Suite, and Sprout Social.
  • Experience with Salesforce CRM, Marketing Cloud, or similar systems.
  • Experience with website content management systems (CMS).
  • Familiarity with higher education communications and constituencies.
