About the role
Responsibilities
- Manage a life sciences technology portfolio to optimize commercialization outcomes and identify intellectual property.
- Evaluate the commercial and licensing potential of new technologies and recommend improvements to the portfolio.
- Develop and implement strategic marketing and licensing plans for technologies to be used by start-ups and industry partners.
- Negotiate, draft, and execute high-value business terms for licenses, options, and amendments.
- Foster and deepen relationships with university researchers, industry partners, and the entrepreneurial ecosystem.
- Support spin-out opportunities and facilitate strategic collaborations between the university and external companies.
- Collaborate with legal and finance units to structure deals and secure industry-sponsored research.
Requirements
- Graduate Degree in a technical field within the life sciences.
- 8+ years of experience in academic technology transfer, business development, or research alliance management within a life sciences context.
- Proven track record in assessing, marketing, and licensing early-stage technologies.
- Demonstrated expertise in negotiating and drafting high-value commercial agreements.
- Proficiency with Salesforce, MS Office, and online database tools.
- Strong ability to communicate complex scientific concepts to both technical and non-technical audiences.
- U.S. person status is required for this position.
Preferred Qualifications
- MBA degree.
- Established network of industry relationships within the life sciences sector.
