About the role

Responsibilities

  • Provide strategic leadership for Undergraduate Medical Education (UME) at the Boonshoft School of Medicine.
  • Oversee the design, implementation, and continuous improvement of the MD program curriculum.
  • Ensure curricular alignment with LCME accreditation standards and student learning outcomes.
  • Serve as the Chair for the Department of Medical Education (DME).
  • Supervise and mentor Vice Chairs, Assistant Deans, faculty, and staff.
  • Collaborate with institutional leaders in student affairs, admissions, and clinical education to ensure an integrated educational experience.
  • Facilitate research and scholarly activity of faculty within the UME program.

Requirements

  • MD, DO, or equivalent medical terminal degree; or a terminal degree such as PhD or EdD.
  • If a physician, eligibility for licensure in the state of Ohio and specialty certification by a recognized medical board.
  • At least five years of direct participation in a medical school environment with demonstrated knowledge of curriculum and assessment.
  • Minimum of five years of progressive leadership experience in medical education.
  • Demonstrated record of scholarly achievement in medical education (e.g., peer-reviewed publications or funded initiatives).
  • Experience supervising faculty and staff in an academic or clinical environment.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Knowledge of and experience with LCME accreditation processes.
  • Expertise in contemporary medical pedagogical issues.
  • Experience with curriculum assessment and evaluation focused on measurable student outcomes.
  • Proven track record of leading and engaging faculty to achieve successful outcomes.
  • Experience with academic budgeting and resource management.
  • Strong written and large-group presentation skills.
