About the role

Responsibilities

  • Manage pre-doctoral community-based experiential learning and oversee the network of clinical education sites.
  • Provide leadership, training, and calibration for faculty preceptors at Community-Based Education (CBE) sites.
  • Ensure compliance with Commission on Dental Accreditation (CODA) standards and maintain appropriate documentation.
  • Develop and maintain collaborative connections with community health administrators, dentists, and staff to increase access to care for vulnerable populations.
  • Supervise the Community-Based Education Manager and collaborate with other college leadership to ensure integrated patient care.
  • Perform preclinical, clinical, or didactic teaching roles consistent with area of expertise.
  • Monitor student compliance, quality of care, and program outcomes through regular assessment and data collection.
  • Travel regularly to existing and potential CBE sites to monitor student experiences.

Requirements

  • DDS or DMD degree (or international equivalent).
  • Successful completion of NBDE Parts I & II or the INBDE.
  • Completion of a regional licensure examination (e.g., ADEX).
  • Active Maine Board of Dental Practice licensure (full license) by the start date.
  • Practical experience in the public health arena.
  • Deep understanding of HIPAA, OSHA, and CDC Guidelines.
  • Valid driver's license and willingness to travel.
  • Strong leadership, administrative, and interpersonal communication skills.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience holding leadership positions in dental education.
  • Experience preparing accreditation self-study documentation and participating in CODA site visits.
  • Demonstrated scholarship in dental education.
