Associate Counsel-Employment

Responsibilities

• Provide comprehensive legal support and advice regarding benefits and compensation arrangements
• Assist with the governance of ERISA plan design and fiduciary requirements
• Perform due diligence and provide legal support in connection with corporate transactions
• Assist with internal and regulatory audits of compensation and benefits plans, programs, and policies
• Draft various legal documents related to compensation, benefits, and employment generally
• Assist with the management of employment charges, lawsuits, and arbitrations
• Manage and coordinate outside counsel, including budget oversight
• Collaborate with other legal team members to support the human resources function of a large financial institution

Requirements

• Bachelor's Degree and Juris Doctor (JD) Degree
• Active admission to the Ohio State Bar
• Minimum of 3 years of demonstrated legal experience
• Familiarity with ERISA retirement and health & welfare plans, cafeteria plans, and non-qualified deferred compensation plans
• Experience with agency audits

Preferred Qualifications

• Knowledge of Financial Services Law
• Experience with executive compensation and incentive compensation
• Understanding of wage and hour laws, minimum wage laws, and employment litigation
• Working knowledge of the banking industry
