Associate, Commercial Real Estate Finance

Responsibilities

• Manage a portfolio of commercial real estate finance clients and interact with new and existing customers to understand their banking needs.
• Evaluate loan requests, including income-producing property loans, bridge loans, and non-renewable term loans.
• Perform thorough risk assessments by analyzing project strengths, weaknesses, developer experience, liquidity, and collateral.
• Prepare credit applications, annual reviews, and maintain timely updates for all portfolio tasks such as expiration dates and annual reviews.
• Collaborate with senior directors and external investors on various corporate financing deals.
• Monitor loans to ensure all conditions are met and protect the bank's assets and liabilities.
• Identify new business opportunities and contribute to strategies that adapt to the evolving real estate sector.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Commerce, or Economics.
• Proficiency in both French and English (written and verbal) is essential for collaborating with national teams and local clients.
• Strong credit, assessment, and analytical skills.
• Proficiency in accounting and financial analysis.
• Advanced skills in Microsoft Excel and general computer literacy.
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills to express viewpoints effectively to internal and external stakeholders.

Preferred Qualifications

• 3 years of experience in commercial real estate finance.
• Proven experience in transaction structuring.
