About the role
Responsibilities
- Lead, supervise, and manage assigned nursing staff, including full-time, part-time, and student employees across multiple departments.
- Ensure appropriate technical staff coverage 24/7, including holidays, weekends, and emergency closures.
- Serve as a floor technician, performing and teaching essential skills such as patient restraint, care, monitoring, and equipment maintenance.
- Collaborate with the nursing director to recruit, interview, hire, and train new staff, and conduct performance reviews.
- Maintain accountability for clinical areas and manage controlled drug audits.
- Support coordination across outpatient service areas, including Dermatology, Ophthalmology, and Integrative Medicine.
- Participate in emergency response and blood bank on-call duties.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree with 4 years of experience; OR an Associate's degree in Veterinary Technology with 4 years of experience; OR vet tech credentials with 4 years of experience; OR 7 years of experience in a similar working environment.
- Minimum of 1 year of supervisory, leadership, or administrative experience related to the job duties.
- Ability to work a variety of shifts, including nights, weekends, holidays, and on-call/relief shifts.
- Physical capability to lift more than 50 pounds, stand or walk for prolonged periods, and perform various physical tasks including bending, kneeling, and climbing.
Preferred Qualifications
- Certified Veterinary Technician (CVT), Registered Veterinary Technician (RVT), or Licensed Veterinary Technician (LVT).
