About the role
Responsibilities
- Represent clients in family court proceedings for divorce, custody, support, and protective orders
- Prepare and draft pleadings, motions, and other legal documents
- Conduct legal research and provide case strategy recommendations
- Negotiate settlements and work collaboratively with opposing counsel
- Interview and counsel clients while maintaining confidentiality
- Manage case files and deadlines efficiently
- Participate in mediation, hearings, and trials as needed
- Maintain knowledge of relevant family law statutes and court procedures
Requirements
- Juris Doctor (JD) degree from an accredited law school
- Admission to the South Carolina state bar and in good standing
- 2+ years of experience in South Carolina Family Court
- Strong legal research, writing, and oral advocacy skills
- Litigation experience is required
- Ability to manage a diverse caseload effectively
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
