About the role

Responsibilities

  • Lead Athletics fundraising strategy with an emphasis on major gifts, campaign priorities, and annual fundraising goals.
  • Manage a personal portfolio of high-capacity prospects to identify, qualify, cultivate, solicit, and steward major gift opportunities.
  • Develop individualized cultivation and stewardship strategies in partnership with Athletics leadership, coaches, and volunteers.
  • Provide leadership and supervision for Athletics development staff, setting performance expectations and accountability for results.
  • Build and sustain relationships with alumni, parents, community leaders, corporations, and foundations.
  • Oversee Athletics development operations, including budget planning, donor events, and program effectiveness.
  • Collaborate with University Development to align Athletics priorities with broader annual giving and campaign strategies.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent.
  • Seven (7) years of progressively responsible fundraising experience, preferably in higher education or athletics.
  • Demonstrated success securing major gifts of $100,000 or more.
  • Experience managing donor portfolios and leading campaign strategies.
  • Experience supervising development professionals.
  • Valid driver's license and ability to meet University fleet rules.
  • Willingness to work non-business hours, weekends, and travel frequently (local and overnight).
  • Ability to work in-person in Stockton, CA, or relocate within 25 miles of the campus.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Master's Degree.
  • Proven ability to move donors through the full fundraising cycle.
  • Strong leadership skills with the ability to motivate staff and manage budgets.
  • Excellent written, verbal, and negotiation skills.
  • Experience advancing social justice, equity, and inclusion in a university setting.
