About the role

Responsibilities

  • Provide teaching, clinical duties, and scientific scholarship within the Department of Clinical Medicine.
  • Lead and facilitate skills labs and structured procedural training sessions for residents and students at GME partner institutions.
  • Design, deliver, and evaluate curriculum, including lectures, seminars, and small group discussions.
  • Provide clinical service, patient care, and bedside teaching in clinical settings.
  • Supervise students during clinical educational activities, including the use of standardized or volunteer patients.
  • Participate in scholarly activities and contribute to the planning and development of academic programs.
  • Serve as a mentor to medical students and participate in clinic quality assurance and service evaluation.
  • Attend faculty meetings and serve on appointed or elected university committees.

Requirements

  • Ability to obtain a Tennessee medical license (via the Tennessee Board of Osteopathic Examination or Tennessee Medical State Board) within the first year of hire.
  • Maintenance of an unrestricted Tennessee license throughout employment.
  • Possession of approved medical professional liability insurance.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in clinical or academic medicine teaching and leadership.
  • Academic rank will be commensurate with training and experience.
