Assistant/Associate Professor, Plant Biotechnology

Responsibilities

• Establish and maintain a productive, student-centered research program in plant biotechnology.
• Provide instruction to graduate and undergraduate students in plant biotechnology, molecular biology, tissue culture, and cell biology.
• Troubleshoot plant tissue culture and greenhouse-related issues.
• Actively write scientific research grants to secure external funding.
• Mentor graduate and undergraduate students in research activities and scholarly pursuits.
• Contribute to departmental services, including student advisement and curriculum transformation.
• Participate in departmental and university-wide committees.

Requirements

• Ph.D. in biotechnology or a related field.
• Postdoctoral fellowship experience in biotechnology.
• Extensive research experience in gene cloning and gene editing.
• Proven research experience in transfection, tissue culture, and hardening.
• A strong research profile in plant science with quality publications in top journals.

Preferred Qualifications

• Postdoctoral fellowship experience specifically in plant biotechnology.
• Experience teaching both introductory and advanced biotechnology courses.
• Experience obtaining funded research grants.
• Experience working with underrepresented minorities in STEM.
• Experience with experiential learning models and collaborative research programs.
