About the role

Responsibilities

  • Support the Head Women’s Basketball Coach in program organization and the implementation of game and practice plans
  • Facilitate practice sessions, including implementing drills, offering strategic input, and providing one-on-one athlete development
  • Assist in the recruitment of prospective student-athletes and manage tracking through the SLATE system
  • Monitor student-athlete academic progress to ensure compliance with university and NCAA standards
  • Coordinate administrative tasks such as travel arrangements, equipment/uniform purchases, and official visit itineraries
  • Assist with scouting opponents, film breakdown, and game day responsibilities
  • Collaborate with athletic trainers to follow injury protocols and work with strength and conditioning staff on training programs

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution
  • Minimum of one (1) year of collegiate coaching experience or two (2) years of successful high school coaching experience
  • Valid driver’s license
  • Current CPR and AED certifications
  • Excellent organizational and multi-tasking skills
  • Strong communication skills with the ability to interact with diverse constituencies
  • Understanding of and commitment to complying with NCAA, conference, and University regulations

Preferred Qualifications

  • Demonstrated ability to motivate students and provide positive leadership
  • Proven experience teaching fundamentals and techniques associated with basketball
  • Experience with competitive teams and a track record of effective coaching
  • Prior successful participation in basketball at the high school, collegiate, or professional level
