About the role
Responsibilities
- Provide strategic and operational leadership for comprehensive academic advising and career services to advance student success and equity.
- Develop and execute a strategic vision and long-term plans aligned with the university’s mission and educational goals.
- Oversee the design, implementation, and assessment of programs including academic advising, career services, experiential learning, and job placement.
- Manage unit budgets and multi-year financial planning, ensuring fiscal integrity and compliance with university and federal standards.
- Cultivate partnerships with employers, industry leaders, alumni, and community stakeholders to align programming with labor market needs.
- Lead fundraising efforts and partner with University Advancement to develop external donor proposals and grant applications.
- Utilize data-informed decision-making to drive continuous improvement in student outcomes, persistence, and career readiness.
- Recruit, onboard, and supervise a team of professional staff, providing ongoing professional development and culturally responsive training.
Requirements
- Doctorate degree in education, higher education administration, student affairs, or a related field.
- 7–10 years of progressively responsible leadership experience in academic advising, career services, or student success within higher education.
- Proven experience managing complex, cross-functional teams and providing direct supervision of professional staff.
- Demonstrated expertise in budget management and fiscal stewardship.
- Strong experience with data-informed decision-making and assessment methodologies.
- Exceptional communication and relationship-building skills with diverse stakeholders, including faculty, administrators, and employers.
