About the role

Responsibilities

  • Provide strategic and operational leadership for comprehensive academic advising and career services to advance student success and equity.
  • Develop and execute a strategic vision and long-term plans aligned with the university’s mission and educational goals.
  • Oversee the design, implementation, and assessment of programs including academic advising, career services, experiential learning, and job placement.
  • Manage unit budgets and multi-year financial planning, ensuring fiscal integrity and compliance with university and federal standards.
  • Cultivate partnerships with employers, industry leaders, alumni, and community stakeholders to align programming with labor market needs.
  • Lead fundraising efforts and partner with University Advancement to develop external donor proposals and grant applications.
  • Utilize data-informed decision-making to drive continuous improvement in student outcomes, persistence, and career readiness.
  • Recruit, onboard, and supervise a team of professional staff, providing ongoing professional development and culturally responsive training.

Requirements

  • Doctorate degree in education, higher education administration, student affairs, or a related field.
  • 7–10 years of progressively responsible leadership experience in academic advising, career services, or student success within higher education.
  • Proven experience managing complex, cross-functional teams and providing direct supervision of professional staff.
  • Demonstrated expertise in budget management and fiscal stewardship.
  • Strong experience with data-informed decision-making and assessment methodologies.
  • Exceptional communication and relationship-building skills with diverse stakeholders, including faculty, administrators, and employers.
