Assistant Vice President for Alumni and Donor Engagement

Responsibilities

• Set the strategic direction for alumni engagement, donor relations, and annual giving.
• Serve as the Executive Director of the WSU Alumni Association.
• Lead, coach, and mentor a professional team across alumni engagement, donor relations, advancement research, and annual giving.
• Develop and nurture relationships with key influencers, including university leadership, board members, alumni, and faculty.
• Implement metrics-driven strategies to increase engagement within alumni networks, chapters, and volunteer roles.
• Manage departmental budgets and establish standard operating procedures to ensure service continuity.
• Maintain a portfolio of major gift prospects and partner with the major gifts team to ensure a healthy donor pipeline.
• Participate in university leadership planning, budgeting, and campaign efforts focused on scholarships and student success.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree.
• Five years of experience in alumni relations or university fundraising at a similar institution.
• Proven success in cultivating and closing major gifts.
• Experience in developing diverse and impactful volunteer boards.
• Demonstrated success working with multi-disciplinary teams.

Preferred Qualifications

• Master's degree.
• Experience working in a complex, dynamic environment connecting philanthropic interests with the needs of students, faculty, and staff.
• Proven ability to manage diverse interests and connect effectively with the community.
• Ability to serve as a bridge between the University and its alumni/donor base.
• Experience being accountable to multiple constituents, including senior university leadership and academic colleagues.
• Superb communication skills with the ability to speak passionately about the university's vision and future.
