Assistant Vice President, E&S Property

Responsibilities

• Drive acceptable submission activity and determine risk acceptability in accordance with Sompo guidelines.
• Review applications and financial requirements to price risk based on financial and competitive analysis.
• Utilize underwriting tools and pricing models across various structures including guaranteed cost, captives, SIRs, and deductibles.
• Maintain strong technical underwriting skills through thorough account reviews and file documentation.
• Manage and analyze information regarding adverse underwriting decisions, rate appeals, and declinations.
• Build and maintain strong business relationships with insureds, agents, and brokers on regional and national levels.
• Attend client and broker meetings, including social outings, to market the assigned territory.
• Mentor Underwriting Trainees and junior underwriters.

Requirements

• Minimum of 8+ years of underwriting or insurance experience.
• Proven track record of producing and underwriting profitable business.
• Experience working with large brokerage houses, wholesalers, and specialty retailers.
• Strong negotiation and communication skills.
• Ability to travel as needed to aggressively market the assigned territory.
• Strong attention to detail and a collaborative team mindset.
