Assistant Vice President and Dean for Academic Advising and Student Success

Responsibilities

• Provide strategic leadership for academic advising, student retention, and degree completion.
• Lead and mentor class deans and oversee academic support functions including the Learning Commons and the First-Year Experience program.
• Develop and implement coordinated advising and outreach strategies to support student progress toward graduation.
• Manage complex student cases involving academic difficulty, enrollment status, and leaves of absence.
• Partner with faculty, the Provost’s Office, and Student Affairs to align academic policies and support student success.
• Chair the Committee on Student Work and represent the Dean of Studies Office on the Curriculum Committee.
• Oversee graduation requirement reviews and external academic reporting for the senior class.

Requirements

• Master's degree in Higher Education Administration, Counseling, Education, or a related field.
• Minimum of 10 years of progressively responsible experience in academic advising, academic administration, or student affairs.
• Demonstrated expertise in student success, retention, academic policy interpretation, and case management.
• Significant experience supervising professional staff and leading complex, student-centered systems.
• Ability to work effectively within a faculty-driven advising model.

Preferred Qualifications

• Doctoral degree.
• Experience working in a residential liberal arts college environment.
• Strong analytical, organizational, and communication skills.
• Demonstrated commitment to equity, inclusion, and student belonging.
