Assistant Transport Manager

Responsibilities

• Manage Depot Transport staff to execute traffic plans and meet service levels
• Control maintenance and damage spends through vehicle passports and daily spend confirmation
• Ensure fleet availability and resource planning coordination
• Motivate and develop the team through training and personal development plans
• Ensure compliance with all relevant statutes and regulations
• Communicate with 3rd party hauliers regarding reported defects
• Check and approve maintenance cost reports and invoices
• Monitor, audit, and control suppliers
• Support implementation of service improvements and continuous improvement ideas
• Manage transport budget aspects including maintenance and fuel KPIs
• Deputise for the Transport Manager when required

Requirements

• Previous experience in a similar position
• Supervisory or management experience within an FMCG environment
• Significant knowledge of tachograph and driving rules/regulations
• Strong planning, organising, and numeracy skills
• Ability to solve problems in a pressurised environment
• Effective communication skills at all levels
• Proficient in Microsoft Office packages
