Assistant Technical Director

Responsibilities

• Supervise the operations of the Department of Theater Scenic Studio to ensure an organized, efficient, and safe environment for production and student education.
• Collaborate with the Technical Director to oversee, instruct, and supervise student employees and contract labor within budgetary guidelines.
• Maintain all scenic, paint, props, and lighting shop machinery, tools, inventory, and stock.
• For candidates with lighting design expertise: design stage lighting for three mainstage productions per academic year and oversee the implementation of lighting systems.
• For candidates with lighting design expertise: teach periodic courses in lighting design based on departmental needs.

Requirements

• B.A. in Theater or commensurate professional experience.
• Ability to work in a liberal-arts context and mentor a diverse undergraduate student population.

Preferred Qualifications

• M.F.A. in Lighting Design (required for teaching opportunities).
• Proven experience in Lighting Design.
