About the role
Responsibilities
- Teach applied voice lessons to graduate and undergraduate students
- Direct the Opera Workshop program
- Teach diction classes and other courses within the candidate's area of expertise
- Maintain active expertise in the field of vocal performance and pedagogy
- Participate in student recruitment and program development
- Serve on various university, college, and school committees
- Engage in community outreach and attend student performances
Requirements
- Doctoral degree (DMA or PhD) in Vocal Performance or a closely related field
- Significant experience in studio teaching
- Significant performance experience as a soloist and/or ensemble member
- Experience with 21st-century vocal pedagogy and repertoire composed within the last 50 years
- Proven record of successful student recruitment
Preferred Qualifications
- Terminal degree or ABD status
- Developing national or international profile as an artist-scholar
- Strong communication abilities and cross-cultural competencies
- Organizational and leadership abilities to support the future direction of the vocal music program
