Assistant Teaching Professor-Voice

Responsibilities

• Teach applied voice lessons to graduate and undergraduate students
• Direct the Opera Workshop program
• Teach diction classes and other courses within the candidate's area of expertise
• Maintain active expertise in the field of vocal performance and pedagogy
• Participate in student recruitment and program development
• Serve on various university, college, and school committees
• Engage in community outreach and attend student performances

Requirements

• Doctoral degree (DMA or PhD) in Vocal Performance or a closely related field
• Significant experience in studio teaching
• Significant performance experience as a soloist and/or ensemble member
• Experience with 21st-century vocal pedagogy and repertoire composed within the last 50 years
• Proven record of successful student recruitment

Preferred Qualifications

• Terminal degree or ABD status
• Developing national or international profile as an artist-scholar
• Strong communication abilities and cross-cultural competencies
• Organizational and leadership abilities to support the future direction of the vocal music program
