Assistant Teaching Professor of Opera

Responsibilities

• Serve as music director for CCPA opera productions, including Undergraduate and Spring productions
• Select and prepare operatic repertoire appropriate to student developmental needs
• Coordinate with the Performance Activities Office to hire stage directors, venues, and production staff
• Create and oversee all opera rehearsal and production schedules
• Deliver vocal coaching to undergraduate, graduate, and Professional Diploma students
• Teach language skills coursework and administer the Professional Topics in Opera Seminar
• Contribute to curriculum development, assessment, and NASM compliance processes
• Participate in recruitment activities, auditions, and student mentorship

Requirements

• Master of Music (MM) in Collaborative Piano, Accompanying, or a related field
• Minimum of five years of professional experience in opera, including music direction
• Demonstrated coaching proficiency in Italian, French, German, and English
• Ability to work with collegiate-level singers in both studio and rehearsal settings
• Strong organizational, collaborative, and communication skills

Preferred Qualifications

• Doctor of Musical Arts (DMA) in Collaborative Piano, Accompanying, or a related field
• Significant experience as a music director within a collegiate opera program
• Demonstrated experience working with diverse voice types and repertoire levels
• Active professional engagement in the opera field
• Experience supporting international students and diverse student populations
