Assistant Teaching Professor, Chemistry

Responsibilities

• Provide in-person lecture and laboratory instruction in Chemistry for health science, biology, biochemistry, and biotechnology majors and graduate students.
• Incorporate evidence-based teaching methods to enhance learning outcomes for a diverse student population.
• Serve as a mentor and resource for students navigating relevant degrees and majors.
• Participate in the development, implementation, and monitoring of safe and inclusive learning environments.
• Collaborate on the review and improvement of course materials, teaching methodologies, and assessment methods.
• Engage in professional development activities to inform pedagogy and teaching practices.

Requirements

• Master’s degree in biological science, biomedical science, chemical science, biochemistry, science education, or a related field.
• Documented successful college-level teaching experience.

Preferred Qualifications

• Doctoral degree in chemistry, biochemistry, science education, or a related field.
• Experience using inclusive teaching methods to support student learning inside and outside the classroom.
• Experience incorporating technology and demonstrations into teaching, including open educational resources and course management software.
• Experience in curriculum design and assessment.
• Demonstrated ability in laboratory instrument operation and maintenance.
• Demonstrated ability to mentor students across a range of majors and programs.
