About the role

Responsibilities

  • Provide general supervision and care for children in a classroom setting on a casual basis
  • Implement stimulating, age-appropriate activities to promote social, emotional, cognitive, and physical development
  • Recognize and respond to individual child needs using appropriate behavior management techniques
  • Assist with risk management, including monitoring food safety, medication storage, allergies, and facility cleanliness
  • Maintain regular and professional communication with parents and families
  • Ensure strict confidentiality regarding children, families, and staff information
  • Comply with CCEYA regulations, Health Department guidelines, and center routines
  • Participate in staff meetings, special events, and ongoing professional development

Requirements

  • High School Diploma (completed)
  • Minimum of 3 months of prior experience working with children in a childcare environment
  • Current First Aid and CPR Certification
  • Ability to pass a Criminal Background Check with vulnerable sector screening
  • Working knowledge of the Child Care and Early Years Act (CCEYA)
  • Physical agility to lead games, lift/carry children, and stand for extended periods
  • Strong oral and written communication skills

Preferred Qualifications

  • Early Childhood Education (ECE) Diploma
  • Registration with the College of Early Childhood Educators of Ontario
