Assistant Teacher-Pre-K Academy

Responsibilities

• Assist classroom teachers in the care, instruction, and management of Pre-K students
• Implement developmentally appropriate curriculum, classroom management, and small group experiences
• Observe and record student progress through anecdotal records and assessments
• Maintain up-to-date children’s records, including release and emergency forms
• Ensure a clean and orderly classroom environment by performing light daily cleaning and disinfecting
• Adhere to Texas Health and Human Services Child Care Licensing Minimum Standards and college policies
• Collaborate with parents, children, and staff using positive guidance techniques

Requirements

• High school diploma or GED (verification required within 30 days of employment)
• Child Development Associate (CDA) credential, or enrollment in a qualifying program (Associate, Baccalaureate, or CDA program)
• Must be at least 18 years of age
• Strong reading, writing, and oral communication skills
• Ability to obtain CPR and First Aid Certification within 90 days of hire
• Physical ability to lift children up to 40 pounds and participate in gross motor activities

Preferred Qualifications

• Recent experience working in a licensed childcare facility or early childhood program
• Knowledge of the developmental stages of children ages 3 to 5 years
• Associate’s degree in Child Development and Early Childhood
