Assistant Teacher

Responsibilities

• Serve as a floating assistant teacher, providing support wherever and however the school most needs it each day
• Independently supervise children during arrival/departure, transitions, outside time, and rest/nap time
• Support classroom operations including cleaning, material preparation, meal prep, and laundry
• Assist children with daily living skills such as hand washing, bathroom use, and eating
• Maintain accurate child and family records and complete required Montessori training
• Support school leadership in fostering a nurturing, safe, and stimulating environment

Requirements

• Age 18 with high school diploma or GED
• Six or more months of experience in childcare, education, or a related setting
• Ability to pass background checks and tuberculosis screenings
• Ability to lift a minimum of 40 lbs
• Valid Food Handler’s Permit or willingness to obtain one
• Reliable transportation to and from work
• Ability to complete 20 hours of onboarding by the seventh day of employment

Preferred Qualifications

• Prior experience in a Montessori or early childhood classroom setting (ages 3–5)
• Experience fostering inclusive environments for diverse families
• Strong organizational skills for classroom setup and safety checks
