Assistant Supervisor, Mechanical/Electrical

Responsibilities

• Assist the Mechanical/Electrical Supervisor in managing and supervising technicians across all campuses
• Coordinate daily work direction for Mechanical/Electrical and Automation System Technicians
• Oversee operation, maintenance, troubleshooting, repair, and installation of electrical, lighting, plumbing, HVAC, and related equipment
• Recommend personnel actions including hiring, performance evaluations, and discipline
• Prioritize workloads and monitor work orders via CMS
• Provide training on tools and equipment
• Perform complex diagnostic and repair services and respond to 24/7 emergencies
• Assist in design and development recommendations for new or replacement equipment installations

Requirements

• Completion of a related vocational training program (at least one year/30 semester credits) or equivalent work experience
• Four years of experience as a DMACC mechanical/electrical tech or six years of external experience
• Proficiency in operating, maintaining, and repairing boilers, chillers, HVAC, plumbing, electrical, and pneumatics
• Refrigerant Transition and Recovery Universal Certificate
• Ability to lift 75 pounds and climb 30 ft extension ladders
• Valid Iowa driver’s license with a satisfactory driving record
• Ability to perform heavy physical labor including bending, crouching, and working in extreme temperatures

Preferred Qualifications

• Five years of experience in at least four areas: plumbing, electrical, HVAC, boilers, chillers, pneumatics, or temperature controls
• Previous experience supervising or directing the work of others
