Assistant Store Manager

Responsibilities

• Support the Store Manager in overseeing all operational areas of the retail thrift store
• Supervise staff and volunteers, providing direction, orientation, and training
• Oversee inventory control by ensuring donations are retrieved, sorted, and priced appropriately
• Manage cash operations, including handling registers and ensuring secure nightly deposits
• Assist with store layouts, sales planning, promotions, and auctions to ensure an attractive shopping environment
• Handle customer concerns or complaints in a timely and professional manner
• Ensure compliance with health and safety regulations and emergency procedures
• Perform administrative tasks and assist with staff scheduling

Requirements

• Completion of a post-secondary program in Retail Management or an equivalent combination of education and experience
• 2 years of retail experience (experience with secondhand merchandise is preferred)
• Proven experience in cash handling and basic accounting
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications
• Ability to stand for long periods and lift/move items up to 29 pounds
• Flexibility to work a varying schedule, including weekdays and Saturdays
