About the role
Responsibilities
- Conduct thorough inspections and testing of signal circuitry, equipment, and systems to identify and resolve defects
- Assemble, disassemble, troubleshoot, and repair signal crossing warning device equipment
- Construct, install, maintain, and replace signal communication circuitry and components
- Utilize various machines, tools, vehicles, and equipment in a responsible manner
- Operate company vehicles and travel across the designated geographic territory
- Adhere to all safety, operational, and Federal Railroad Administration (FRA) regulations
Requirements
- Possess a valid driver's license
- Demonstrate basic computer skills
- Proficient in basic arithmetic (addition, subtraction, multiplication, division, and fractions/decimals)
- Knowledge of fundamental mechanical principles
- Ability to successfully complete an English language assessment
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills
- Ability to pass a Physical Ability Test (PAT) and medical evaluation
Preferred Qualifications
- Valid Commercial Driver's License (CDL) - Class A or Class B
- Completion of a recognized electrical training program or certificate
- Associate's degree in electrical engineering or electronic technology
- Experience operating heavy equipment or working in construction-oriented settings
- Experience working outdoors in diverse weather conditions
- Willingness to travel extensively (95-100%) and work flexible shifts, including weekends and holidays
