About the role

Responsibilities

  • Supervise, organize, and allocate work for Patrol Officers during daily operations and major campus events
  • Support the Security Coordinator in managing 24/7 departmental operations and ensuring policy adherence
  • Respond to critical incidents and high-priority tasks, providing leadership and escalating issues as necessary
  • Assist in resource deployment and staff scheduling to meet operational needs and service standards
  • Review incident reports and shift logs to identify trends and provide performance feedback
  • Lead by example through active participation in patrols and maintaining professional departmental standards
  • Provide trauma-informed services and first aid support in accordance with safety standards
  • Act as the primary point of contact and assume full responsibilities of the Security Coordinator during their absence

Requirements

  • High School graduation
  • Valid BC Security License
  • Advanced First Aid Certification (OFA 3)
  • Valid BC Driver’s license
  • Advanced Security Training (AST) and Mental Health First Aid (MHFA)
  • 3-5 years of security industry experience, including at least 1 year in a supervisory capacity
  • Ability to work a rotating schedule
  • Strong communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills

Preferred Qualifications

  • Post-secondary degree or certificate in a related field
  • Professional certification such as CPP or APP
  • Experience managing resources and scheduling large groups within a unionized environment
  • Familiarity with Critical Incident Stress Management (CISM) and trauma-informed approaches
  • Experience in coaching, mentoring, and developing staff training initiatives
