Assistant Research Scientist, Chemistry

Responsibilities

• Perform extractions (liquid-liquid, solid phase extraction) to extract potential actives from microbial and plant sources
• Conduct bioassay-guided fractionation of crude extracts to isolate and identify active fractions
• Support development of analytical methods using HPLC
• Participate in the development of processes for isolation, separation, purification, and identification of active compounds
• Maintain legible, accurate, and complete laboratory records and SOPs
• Manage laboratory supplies, solvents, and chemicals
• Maintain a clean and safe laboratory work environment

Requirements

• B.S. degree in Chemistry, Biochemistry, or Analytical Chemistry
• 2-3 years of research experience
• Experience with centrifugation, liquid-liquid, and solid-liquid extractions
• Experience with fractionation and chromatography (Column chromatography, analytical/preparative HPLC)
• Ability to lift at least 30 pounds
• Ability to handle hazardous chemical products and solvents
