PhD in Wildlife Biology, Ecology, or aligned discipline, Expertise in Fisheries Ecology or Ichthyology, College-level teaching experience, Strong oral and written communication skills
About the role
Responsibilities
- Teach undergraduate and graduate courses, including Freshwater Ecology, Ichthyology, Zoology, and Population Ecology
- Manage classroom environments, student assessments, and learning management system usage
- Mentor students through the Omega project (senior research or capstone experience)
- Provide academic advising and tutoring to support student success
- Engage in scholarship and professional development to maintain field currency
- Promote and support undergraduate research opportunities
- Serve on various committees within the School, College, and Faculty Senate
Requirements
- PhD in Wildlife Biology, Ecology, or a closely aligned discipline
- Demonstrated expertise in Fisheries Ecology or Ichthyology
- Previous college-level teaching experience
- Strong oral and written communication skills
- Highly organized and detail-oriented with the ability to multi-task
Preferred Qualifications
- Strong quantitative skills and expertise in Population Ecology
- Ability to contribute to the development of the Master of Science in Wildlife Conservation Sciences
- Experience developing curricula focused on applied ecology, conservation, and habitat restoration
