Assistant Professor of Political Science (Public Law)

Responsibilities

• Teach approximately five courses per year, including lower-division courses in public law and U.S. politics, and upper-division courses in constitutional law and judicial politics
• Participate in the Pacific CORE Seminar series
• Maintain a productive research agenda with the potential for peer-reviewed publication
• Advise students within the department
• Provide service to the department, college, university, and profession commensurate with rank

Requirements

• Ph.D. in Political Science or a closely related field required by the time of appointment
• Evidence of a productive research agenda with promise of peer-reviewed publication
• Ability to work onsite at the Stockton campus (relocation within California required)

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience using empirical and interpretive approaches to the study of law and courts
• Specialization in areas such as judicial behavior, constitutional development, federalism, or civil liberties
• Demonstrated effectiveness in undergraduate teaching
• Experience advancing social justice, equity, and inclusion in a university setting
• Ability to integrate culturally responsive practices into teaching and research
