About the role
Responsibilities
- Teach approximately five courses per year, including lower-division courses in public law and U.S. politics, and upper-division courses in constitutional law and judicial politics
- Participate in the Pacific CORE Seminar series
- Maintain a productive research agenda with the potential for peer-reviewed publication
- Advise students within the department
- Provide service to the department, college, university, and profession commensurate with rank
Requirements
- Ph.D. in Political Science or a closely related field required by the time of appointment
- Evidence of a productive research agenda with promise of peer-reviewed publication
- Ability to work onsite at the Stockton campus (relocation within California required)
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience using empirical and interpretive approaches to the study of law and courts
- Specialization in areas such as judicial behavior, constitutional development, federalism, or civil liberties
- Demonstrated effectiveness in undergraduate teaching
- Experience advancing social justice, equity, and inclusion in a university setting
- Ability to integrate culturally responsive practices into teaching and research
