Assistant Professor of Physical Therapy

Responsibilities

• Contribute to the planning, development, and evaluation of courses within the DPT program
• Deliver lectures, seminars, small group discussions, and clinical assignments effectively
• Prepare examination questions and manage course grading
• Participate in scholarly activities and pursue a research agenda
• Serve as a mentor to physical therapy and other healthcare profession students
• Provide service through faculty meetings and appointed or elected committees
• Complete required institutional and program accreditation reports
• Promote effective working relationships among faculty, staff, and students

Requirements

• Doctorate in Physical Therapy (DPT) or BSPT/MSPT with an academic doctorate
• Current Tennessee physical therapist licensure or eligibility to obtain it prior to teaching
• At least 3 years of clinical experience as a physical therapist
• Minimum of 2 years of teaching experience in a clinical setting or at the college level
• Strong organizational, interpersonal, and collaborative skills
• Demonstrated commitment to cultural diversity, equity, and inclusion

Preferred Qualifications

• Academic doctorate (PhD, Ed.D., ScD, DHSc, etc.) in a relevant field (ABD will be considered)
• ABPTS Board Certified Specialist in a relevant field
• Additional continuing education or certifications in a relevant field
• Experience with the CAPTE accreditation process
