About the role

Responsibilities

  • Teach a course load appropriate to the discipline, including topics such as occupational conditions, lifespan occupations, and business management
  • Plan and organize instruction using contemporary teaching strategies and technology to maximize student learning
  • Develop and update course syllabi and instructional materials in accordance with curricular design
  • Manage classrooms and labs to ensure equipment is maintained and up-to-date
  • Serve as a mentor and advisor for student doctoral projects and academic progress
  • Evaluate student performance fairly and maintain accurate documentation of student records
  • Participate in continuous quality improvement of the OTD program and national programmatic accreditation activities
  • Engage in scholarship and professional development to stay current in the field

Requirements

  • Doctoral Degree in Occupational Therapy or a related field of study
  • National Board for Certification in Occupational Therapy (NBCOT)
  • Valid State Licensure
  • 3-5 years of experience as an Occupational Therapist in a clinical practice setting

Preferred Qualifications

  • Previous teaching experience at the higher education level
  • Experience as a clinical instructor or coordinator for student interaction
  • Subject matter expertise in specific areas such as Burns, Splinting, Adult Neurorehabilitation, or Private Practice management
