About the role
Responsibilities
- Teach a course load appropriate to the discipline, including topics such as occupational conditions, lifespan occupations, and business management
- Plan and organize instruction using contemporary teaching strategies and technology to maximize student learning
- Develop and update course syllabi and instructional materials in accordance with curricular design
- Manage classrooms and labs to ensure equipment is maintained and up-to-date
- Serve as a mentor and advisor for student doctoral projects and academic progress
- Evaluate student performance fairly and maintain accurate documentation of student records
- Participate in continuous quality improvement of the OTD program and national programmatic accreditation activities
- Engage in scholarship and professional development to stay current in the field
Requirements
- Doctoral Degree in Occupational Therapy or a related field of study
- National Board for Certification in Occupational Therapy (NBCOT)
- Valid State Licensure
- 3-5 years of experience as an Occupational Therapist in a clinical practice setting
Preferred Qualifications
- Previous teaching experience at the higher education level
- Experience as a clinical instructor or coordinator for student interaction
- Subject matter expertise in specific areas such as Burns, Splinting, Adult Neurorehabilitation, or Private Practice management
