About the role
Responsibilities
- Teach a 6-course equivalent each academic year, with a focus on clinical simulation and specialties such as medical-surgical, maternal-child, or mental health nursing
- Create, revise, and update simulation activities within the curriculum and maintain standards of operation
- Advise nursing majors and contribute to departmental assessment, evaluation, and accreditation activities
- Engage in scholarship and research, potentially working with undergraduate research assistants
- Participate in faculty meetings, committees, and professional development opportunities
Requirements
- Active Minnesota Registered Nurse license required at the time of appointment
- Demonstrated effectiveness in teaching and curriculum development
- Proficiency in conducting simulation-based learning and evaluating clinical simulation
- Current knowledge of patient simulation technologies, including simulators, software, and AV equipment
- Demonstrated commitment to supporting students from diverse backgrounds and identities
- Doctorate degree in nursing or a related field (PhD, DNP, or EdD) is preferred; Master's prepared nurses with a doctorate in progress will be considered
Preferred Qualifications
- Teaching experience at the undergraduate level
- Simulation certification completed or in process
- 5+ years of recent clinical experience in nursing
- Experience with nursing program assessment, evaluation, and accreditation activities
- Evidence of a commitment to undergraduate student advising
