Assistant Professor of Nursing

Responsibilities

• Teach a 6-course equivalent each academic year, with a focus on clinical simulation and specialties such as medical-surgical, maternal-child, or mental health nursing
• Create, revise, and update simulation activities within the curriculum and maintain standards of operation
• Advise nursing majors and contribute to departmental assessment, evaluation, and accreditation activities
• Engage in scholarship and research, potentially working with undergraduate research assistants
• Participate in faculty meetings, committees, and professional development opportunities

Requirements

• Active Minnesota Registered Nurse license required at the time of appointment
• Demonstrated effectiveness in teaching and curriculum development
• Proficiency in conducting simulation-based learning and evaluating clinical simulation
• Current knowledge of patient simulation technologies, including simulators, software, and AV equipment
• Demonstrated commitment to supporting students from diverse backgrounds and identities
• Doctorate degree in nursing or a related field (PhD, DNP, or EdD) is preferred; Master's prepared nurses with a doctorate in progress will be considered

Preferred Qualifications

• Teaching experience at the undergraduate level
• Simulation certification completed or in process
• 5+ years of recent clinical experience in nursing
• Experience with nursing program assessment, evaluation, and accreditation activities
• Evidence of a commitment to undergraduate student advising
