Assistant Professor of Music

Responsibilities

• Teach General Education Music classes and other courses offered by the Music Program as needed
• Direct the University Concert Band and the Pep Band
• Collaborate with the Theater Director to provide music or music direction for fall and spring theatrical productions
• Fulfill university scholarship expectations through research, publication, grant development, and creative achievement
• Provide academic advisement to students and conduct regular office hours
• Participate in departmental, school, and university committee service and faculty meetings

Requirements

• DMA or PhD in Music
• Evidence of effective teaching potential and scholarly activity
• Demonstrated experience leading musical ensembles, including Pep Band
• Knowledge of student advising processes
• Educational preparation in accordance with University and Southern Association of Colleges and Schools requirements

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience in leading a department or academic program
