Assistant Professor of Mechanical Engineering

Responsibilities

• Teach undergraduate and graduate courses within the ABET-accredited Mechanical Engineering program and related laboratories.
• Conduct innovative research with an active scholarly agenda, including peer-reviewed publications and presentations.
• Collaborate with students on independent research and supervise student projects.
• Participate in departmental, college, and university service, such as student advising and recruitment.
• Contribute to the university's commitment to inclusive excellence by fostering a diverse and equitable academic community.

Requirements

• Earned doctorate in Mechanical Engineering or a related discipline (ABDs will be considered if the degree is completed prior to the start date).
• Demonstrated potential and dedication to teaching, research, and professional service.
• A strong commitment to inclusive excellence and fostering a sense of belonging for all students and colleagues.

Preferred Qualifications

• Expertise in Mechanical Design (machine/mechanism design, mechatronics), solid mechanics, or manufacturing.
• Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering from an ABET-accredited program.
• Previous teaching experience at an ABET-accredited program with a focus on hands-on education.
• Industrial experience in the field of mechanical engineering.
• Strong interest in curriculum development for both lecture and laboratory-based courses.
