About the role

Responsibilities

  • Execute teaching and learning duties, including course instruction, laboratory management, and curriculum development.
  • Lead student projects and engage in professional development to enhance student learning and teaching best practices.
  • Establish and maintain a research program aligned with the teacher-scholar model, involving students in research projects.
  • Publish research and scholarship in peer-reviewed journals and present findings at professional conferences.
  • Contribute to service and citizenship through activities within the department, university, profession, and community.

Requirements

  • Ph.D. in Mechanical, Electrical, or Aerospace Engineering (or a closely related field).
  • ABD candidates with completion by the time of appointment will be considered.
  • Ability to teach undergraduate and graduate courses in dynamic systems and mechatronics.
  • Ability to develop an externally funded applied-research program.
  • Proficiency in using modern engineering tools for both teaching and research.
  • Strong written and oral communication skills in the English language.
  • Ability and desire to contribute to departmental, university, and community service.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Demonstrated excellence in teaching at both the undergraduate and graduate levels.
  • Demonstrated excellence in research and scholarly activity.
  • Specific experience teaching mechatronics, dynamic systems, vibrations, and controls.
  • Ability to complement existing institutional strengths such as advanced mobility, autonomous systems, new energy, or crash safety.
