Assistant Professor of Exercise Science

Responsibilities

• Instruct and advise undergraduate students in Exercise Science courses, specifically focusing on biomechanics, coaching, and motor learning
• Provide leadership within the Exercise Science program and collaborate with other campus departments and the local community
• Assist with program recruitment, retention, curriculum development, scheduling, and program assessment
• Supervise internships, field experiences, and undergraduate research projects
• Promote and integrate experiential learning opportunities into the curriculum
• Engage in scholarly activities and provide service to the department, division, and the College

Requirements

• Doctorate degree in Exercise Science, Kinesiology, or a related discipline
• Documented effectiveness in college teaching using engaged learning in both online and face-to-face delivery formats
• Experience in the field of Exercise Science or within an educational institution
• Proven experience supervising and mentoring students in field experiences and professional development opportunities
• Demonstrated ability to integrate experiential learning into coursework
• Understanding of the needs of students from diverse backgrounds and learning styles

Preferred Qualifications

• Professional certifications in related areas, such as personal training, strength and conditioning, or athletic training (e.g., ACSM, CSCS, NSCA)
• Expertise in sub-categories such as sports psychology, sport in society, coaching, adapted physical activity, or health promotion
