Assistant Professor of Exercise Science

Responsibilities

• Instruct and advise students in Exercise Science courses, specifically focusing on biomechanics, coaching, and motor learning
• Provide leadership within the Exercise Science program and collaborate with other campus departments and the community
• Assist with program recruitment, retention, curriculum development, scheduling, and assessment
• Supervise internships, field experiences, and mentor undergraduate research projects
• Integrate experiential learning opportunities into the curriculum
• Engage in scholarly activities and provide service to the department, division, and the College

Requirements

• Doctorate degree in Exercise Science, Kinesiology, or a related discipline
• Documented effectiveness in college teaching using engaged learning in both online and face-to-face formats
• Professional experience in the field of Exercise Science or within an educational institution
• Proven experience supervising and mentoring students in field experiences and career development
• Demonstrated ability to integrate experiential learning into coursework
• Understanding of the needs of students from diverse backgrounds and learning styles

Preferred Qualifications

• Professional certifications such as ACSM, CSCS, or NSCA (personal training, strength and conditioning, or athletic training)
• Expertise in sub-categories including sports psychology, sport in society, coaching, adapted physical activity, or health promotion
